I’ve had not just one long gap (as @SimonWoods mentions) in journalling but hundreds. I have runs of longer posts, photos or music, silence for months, switch blog platform (repeat every couple of years), fresh start posts, a flurry of short interactions, more silence, etc. I try not to let it bother me anymore. I do it like I do it.

But I should say that intention is a significant driver for me as well. Jokes and jabs and knowing winks only sustains for a time, but if I have a creative “accomplishment” in mind, well then I make more, which increases the odds some of it might be passable. ❤︎

@cheribaker I’ve taken to keeping a “morning dj” app on the phone with the required modern sound accompaniments. Triumphant horns, boing, and barnyard squabble are my current favs.

@todor I believe you’re correct about Obsidian being sensible when moving container-type documents around. Obsidian has alot going for it, but that is in fact the issue for me. Too many (very useful) geegaws and thingamijigs (aka plugins) has me creating little software sketches of potential workflows, edge case elegance, timelines and archiving—ah, but I could also do it like this (3hrs later) There! I’ll save 10 or 15 seconds on each item, so I’ll get a return on time invested…uh…in 2033. Great.

@Miraz The last thing I read of this sort was American Psycho by Ellis. I had to put it down multiple times before finishing, which felt a relief in the end.

@jack Alternatively, you can tell Obsidian to put related assets in a named sub folder of the containing document’s location. In my experience it is always a juggling act.
