@baldur Insightful, and I don’t think it is reading too much into Alex’s words to understand it is the folks (C-Suite, B-Ark ticket holders) most easily replaced by AI who are pushing to replace you by AI.

@fraying Every once in a while my private opinion is expressed by and overlaps the opinions of others that I trust, and so it turns out I’m not completely out of touch. It is one of the perks of intentionally shielding one’s self from conversations, only dipping in once in a while to check the temperature, as it were, of the data pools.

@fraying ..and great article btw. I can see more clearly what you are on about. That idea of a ring of unquestioned acceptance close in, with increasing filtering and distancing as the strength of connection and familiarity recede, that’s smart—and something I need to keep more firmly planted near the front of my mind.

@fraying For me, if you start with the claim that there is only one correct emotional response, one intellectual reaction that is the ‘correct’ one, you’ve already disqualified yourself for serious discussion. And that is 99% of what the 99% talk about.

I spent an afternoon with the rhetoric epee finding out if any of those assholes were worth the time. Nope. So I get it. But I think I want to get more of it, or get it better, or something…

@fraying If my solipsistic reverie was reality for everyone else too, then yeah, I would click the button and justice would be done. But it isn’t. And it isn’t scalzi’s or your’s or anyones’s, you see? I’m just as fucked off by where our culture is with respect to basics as you, and scalzi, and many other’s are. But we are not harry pottering our way out of this…

@fraying funny, this is my first encounter with scalzi and scalzi sounds like a frightened judgmental asshole. but I’ll keep listening, maybe I missed something? And a side-note on strategy; forgetting assholes exist is what they count on. That’s why you have to dump the bunch bowl on them instead.
