@kq Yeah, I don’t agree with minimalist prescriptions as a rule, but also not with this one after consideration. It’s a chimera I love to chase, optimization, but I found there are more important things, as you say, for me.

@bkryer @kq srry—I sound so cranky. jeez!

What I should say is that archival longevity, and wide accessibility of the words and pictures I share are much more important to me than a pleasant modern experience—and of course this is just one of many ways to approach things!

How can I justify png for example, when someone "could" still be running safari for windows or something, right? 🤣🙃🤪

@kq nobody in the world cares about that, honestly web-land friends and folks, no one cares that you saved 80% on storage. It’s all invisible voodoo to 95% of the people using the net. Maybe more.

@kq Why WebP? I hadn’t even heard about this. Does google want to own everyf*ckingthing digital?

@kq that’s probably it. safari offers to download the resource...running on High Sierra—what! yeah.

@kq I really like the visual conversation (those balloons) we all recognize as an invitation to participate. btw some images resources are not rendering for me.

@kottke Why is she/are they concerned? Isn’t the idea to unseat white men where possible? This should be celebratory, no?

No, because that would be gross, that would be something white men would do.

So instead lets’ obscure the class prejudices and delusions the author (and everyone else, too) entertains, and blame Elmer Fudd and Frank Sinatra for not trying hard enough anymore. C’mon.

Everybody rises who pays fealty to scientific management and class dominance. If you let me in the club, I’ll help us keep the rest out.

And I realize that you’re just pointing at this, Jason, but I have to attach the thread to an existing garment :-)

@hollie serene. I like the small group of friendly green giants on the left in that stand of trees. :-)
